Podcasts to Listen to Now

podcasts, notebook, flowers, coffee, headphones

Yes, you have in fact got that right - I do have a new blog post, shock! I've been preoccupied with uni work, summer holidays and my small cake decorating business. One of the things that has kept me entertained while on a flight, in the car or washing mixing bowls is a podcast, or should I say, several of them. I follow so many different kinds on the podcast app (some I regularly download while others I've only listened to half an episode) but I've gathered a list of my favourites for you to check out if you haven't already! Whether you're looking for a good laugh, interesting stories or helpful advice, I hope there's something for you...

Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware

I can't even begin to tell you how many episodes of this I have listened to...and I only discovered it a few months ago! I'll be honest and say I had never heard of the singer, Jessie Ware before this podcast which she hosts alongside her hilarious mother, Lennie. Their incredibly entertaining relationship with each other shines through as they interview different famous guests and chat all things food, last suppers and of course, table manners. This has given me a lot of joy and laughter (slightly embarrassing when I laugh out loud while listening in the gym). Some of my favourite episodes include Alan Carr, Dan Levy and Stanley Tucci. I have listened to so many episodes that it has, in fact, gotten rather sad as I talk about the mother and daughter as if I know them personally...

The Double Cleanse

I stumbled upon the Welsh twins on YouTube before discovering their podcast. If you haven't heard of them, I urge you to go and follow them right now! Robert Welsh is a trained makeup artist while his twin brother, James has a vast knowledge of all things skincare. They combine their knowledge and expertise in this wonderfully witty and helpful podcast. This is another duo that has made me laugh out loud on many occasions. They have a vast range of discussion points in their podcast and even invite the odd celebrity for a chat. If you're into makeup or skincare this is a must listen.

Even the Rich

This podcast is produced by Wordery, which is a whole network of different podcast shows. In Even the Rich, presenters Brooke and Aricia tell the stories of some of the most famous families (or individuals) in history and their often shocking lives. This includes names like Gucci, the Murdochs and Elizabeth Taylor (or if the Kardashians are more your thing, they discuss them too). It's a fascinating exploration of how the other half live, often with their crazy families and the drama that ensues. Brooke and Aricia deliver each story in an entertaining and gripping way. The stories/celebrities are broken into seasons, each consisting of around five episodes.

Owning It

This one is a little side-step from the others. Owning It centres around the theme of anxiety, hosted and created by author Caroline Foran. I read Caroline's book, with the same name, a few years back and it was a complete game-changer. The tagline is what caught my attention initially - 'your bullsh*t free guide to living with anxiety', because that can be very hard to find! In both the book and the podcast she shares her own experience with anxiety in a way that will make you feel less alone and a little less crazy! She shares invaluable tips and advice, often inviting experts to chat on her podcast. If you or someone you know is living with anxiety, this is one to listen to! Caroline is relatable, straightforward and down to earth.
